With the Google Pixel 7, the manufacturer remains true to the well-known design. The eye-catching camera bar on the back is not made of glass this time, but of aluminum. According to Google, this is 100 percent recycled material, which also applies to the rest of the case.

While the Google Pixel 7 has a 6.3-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, the Pro model has 6.7 inches and 3,120 x 1,440 pixels. Compared to the previous models, the peak brightness should increase by around 25 percent – to a maximum of 1,400 cd/m². The frame rate of the Pixel 7 is 90 Hertz. The Pixel 7 Pro, on the other hand, can display up to 120 frames per second. A dynamic adjustment should ensure that the battery is not unnecessarily loaded.

Both smartphones are powered by the new “Tensor G2” chip, which should score with better performance and greater efficiency. It is supported by 8 GB (Pixel 7) or 12 GB (Pixel 7 Pro) of RAM. The battery of the smaller model has a capacity of 4,355 mAh. The larger model has a total of 5,000 mAh available. The batteries are charged with up to 30 watts. Wireless charging is also supported. The storage space starts at 128 GB and unfortunately cannot be expanded with an SD card.

Differences between the two models can also be found in the camera. Like its predecessor, the usual Pixel 7 relies on a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 12-MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The Pixel 7 Pro also benefits from a 48 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Together with some useful features, including a revised “sharpener”, an excellent photo experience should be created. Initial tests will have to show whether this is true.

In addition to an in-display fingerprint sensor, this time there will also be the option of unlocking the smartphone via face recognition. An IP68 certification guarantees both models effective protection against dust and water.

The current Android 13 is of course used as the operating system. The devices will be sold from October 13, 2022. Prices start at 649 euros or 899 euros. Interested parties can dust off attractive bonuses until October 17th. For example Pixel Buds Pro or the also brand new Pixel Watch. While Google offers the Pixel 7 in the colors “Lemongrass”, “Snow” and “Obsidian”, the “Lemongrass” is replaced by the color “Hazel” in the Pro version.
